Description: The sound quilted the room with calm. A music note fluttered in front of my eye. The sound called to me, Begging me to lend an ear. Waves of song crashed over me, And I saw the vibrations in the still night air. A bittersweet symphony Danced onto my tongue and into my nostrils, Coursing through my body. Every inch of me shivered in anticipation Of the buffet of beauty to come. Placebo enchanting, Like English summer rain, Drumming lightly on my every sense. Angry angels materialize from the fog Of sheets, papers, and notes. The Goddess laughs and sings along. She is blissful and content. I glide along gently on tails Of her enchanting voice. The happy headstone of life Crumbles with a screech of song. Murderous filigree, Kill the demons that plague our night. Midnight velvet crumbles at the touch, Feather-light and hard as ice. You, in somber resplendence, I hold, Whilst you fall into eager minds. The noise tortures their souls They beg for it to stop. It will end anon, But the devil must dance. A grinning string Dances lightly under fingertips of glass. Sticks drum nimbly without hesitation, Pounding out a song of silence. Picks walk along the wooden façade Of instruments meant for bangers. The night is beautiful La musique est la vie. ~Emily Gregg |
